Bihar’s Director General of Police R S Bhatti has been appointed as the Director General of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). The notification for the appointment of Rajvinder Singh Bhatti as DG of CISF has been issued. Bhatti was called to Bihar from central deputation on the choice of former Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav during the Mahagathbandhan government in Bihar. This month, he had requested to return to central deputation and the Nitish Kumar government of the state had given permission for this.
Could not show the strong image of the first round
RS Bhatti, a 1990 batch Indian Police Service officer, was known for his tough image in Bihar. He is considered to be Lalu Prasad Yadav’s favorite officer, although when the NDA government formed in Bihar in 2005 called him from central deputation, he played an important role in the arrest of RJD’s Bahubali MP (now late) Mohd. Shahabuddin. After being on central deputation for a long time, in December 2022, he was called by the Grand Alliance government of Bihar and given the role of DGP of the state. As soon as he became DGP, Bhatti had said that the criminals would have to be caught by chasing them, but nothing like this was seen happening. Bhatti, who has been the SSP of Patna, could not prevent the state government from coming under the target of the opposition on the crime front even while being the DGP this time.
Tejashwi had expressed the pain of RS Bhatti
Tejashwi Yadav, the current leader of opposition in Bihar, was never directly targeting RS Bhatti, who was appointed as DGP in his then government, but was constantly cornering the Nitish Kumar government on crime. It is believed that in view of this, the state government easily agreed to Bhatti’s appeal for central deputation. When this came to light, Tejashwi Yadav also expressed the pain of DPG Bhatti – “Nitish Kumar is also the minister of the Home Department, and also has the responsibility of the police department. The transfer-posting of the police administration is done by the Chief Minister’s sycophants. In Bihar, the transfer-posting of the police department is done by only a few special people. The DGP is not heard in this. When the DGP talks about the transfer-posting of SP, DIG, then the Chief Minister’s sycophants do not listen.”
